i was with my mother’s family and they were talking to me about my religious studies major. my great aunt asked me what the definition of hell was, and i responded “well i suppose it depends on who you ask.” and nearly all the protestants in the group decided that hell was “the absence of god” which i suppose is a fair answer, albeit not a universal one. my cousin’s wife was playing with her 3-year-old daughter and she says “well mommy says that hell is a mcdonald’s playplace” asdfghjhgfd
this 3-year-old girl is so fucking hilarious. her mothers have signed her up for a toddler yoga class, and so she has adopted a very unique language. this child also has an imaginary friend named “mom” which is, in her mind, the boss of her two mothers. for example, my cousin’s wife explained to me how her daughter got mad at them one time. the little girl situated herself in the corner of her crib, pretended to type on a cell phone and said “im writing an email to mom right now and telling her how bad you two are. namaste.”
the family’s Big Theory about “Mom” is that both my cousin and her wife are referred to as “Mommy” and “Mama.” The nickname “Mom” is not used in the house because it would just be confusing. However, when interacting with the world, people tell their daughter that they will “tell her mom” if she is doing something wrong. so this child automatically assumes there is this greater “Mom” figure that is responsible for distributing universal justice.
To be fair to the toddler, that’s pretty much how religions get started.
I’ve been watching Good Omens for ’ll of about ten minutes and I have to say, I do like the poetry between hell’s most angelic demon and heaven’s most demonic angel coexisting
Through watching the rest of the show I went from “worst demon and worst angel- a demon that is too kind and an angel that is too hedonistic”, to “best demon and best angel- a demon so rebellious he can’t even cooperate with the rebellion and an angel so angelic he was ordered to love humanity and now refuses to stop”, and having finished, now, I’ve found myself resting on “two beings who are in fact very very human and love each other very much”
“Mongolia has announced plans to restore the use of its traditional alphabet by 2025, replacing the Cyrillic script adopted under the Sovietperiod as it moves away from Russian influence.

ok einerseits kotze ich weil die züge gerade alle so SCHEISSvoll sind aber andererseits ist es auch voll cool zu sehen wie viele menschen die öffis zusätzlich nutzen würden wenn sie billiger oder sogar kostenlos wären
aber dann macht es natürlich wiederum auch deutlich wie unzulänglich die existierende infrastruktur ist… und da die bahn ja auf die frage, ob sie wegen des 9€-tickets mehr züge einsetzen würde schon erklärt hat, dass die netze vielerorts ohnehin maximal ausgelastet sind und mehr züge oder engere taktungen gar nicht möglich wären, stellt sich halt auch generell die frage, wie viel klimaschutzkampagnen anti-auto und pro-bahn überhaupt nützen wenn die netze jetzt schon an ihrem limit sind 🥴 is halt wieder mal so ein schöner beweis, dass awareness und einflussnehmen auf konsument*innenentscheidungen und all der kack alleine nicht reichen sondern man auch mal geld in die hand nehmen und eventuell ein paar neue schienen verlegen muss
Umgekehrt muss man auch nicht alles auf Autos ausrichten, wenn man das ernst meint mit der Verkehrswende. Bei, äh, Quarks glaub ich hatten sie letztens was drüber, dass das Normmaß für Autos immer breiter geworden ist (weil halt SUVs und so). An diesem Maß richtet sich aus, wie breit Straßen und Parkplätze gebaut werden. Und dann hatten sie mal durchgerechnet, wie viel mehr Platz für die anderen Verkehrsmodi übrig bleibt, wenn diese Maß nicht immer angepasst würde, sondern z.B. gesagt würde, dass 1,90m das gewünschte Maß für Autos sind. Unsere Städte würden deutlich anders aussehen. Denn es ist ja auch so - wenn wo eine Straße mit Parkstreifen gebaut wird, wird da der Parkraum etwa von dem Platz abgeknapst, der den Autos insgesamt zusteht? Nein, stattdessen wird der Platz für die nichtmotorisierten Verkehrsteilnehmer verkleinert (bis zu dem Punkt, dass DIN-Normen für Fußwege unterlaufen werden). Es ist ja schön, dass die Leute drum gebeten werden, das Auto stehen zu lassen, aber da muss die Infrastruktur auch mitziehen und im gewünschten Maße alternative Verkehrsmodi gegenüber dem Auto zumindest nicht mehr flächenmäßig benachteiligen.

ich hatte mein ich auch mal gehört dass es mega das budget jedes jahr für den ausbau von autobahnen und so gibt- was man find ich sehen kann weil unsere straßen eig überall außer mittem im Acker aussehen wie geleckt, besonders im Vergleich zu unseren Nachbarländern-
und man würde legit zwei fliegen mit einer Klappe schlagen indem man einfach nen Teil dieses Budgets für Schienennetzausbau benutzen würde und die Ticketpreise billiger machen würde damits bezahlbarer wird-
Weil 100% würden dann viele (natürlich nicht jeder) die sonst mit dem Auto in irgendwelche städte fahren zumindest auf nem großen Teil der Strecke lieber Bahn fahren als mit dem Auto auf der A3 im Stau zu stehen
